Summary

To help resolve conflicting results regarding the ability of EMF exposure to suppress melatonin production in rodents, an investigator from Madrid, Spain, examined the response of isolated pineal glands in organ culture to an imposed 50-Hz magnetic field. Results indicate a possible direct action of a high intensity field on melatonin production, but the role of this response in the intact animal remains unresolved.
