Summary

Assessment of EMF exposure levels for the general public and associated with specific occupations provides needed background information for epidemiologic assessment of disease risk. This section describes the approach taken in 9 exposure assessment studies. While average magnetic field intensity has been the most common measurement used in the past, more thought is now being given to alternative measures of exposure (or "exposure metrics") that might be more closely related to biological effects.
