The authors evaluated the clinical efficacy of local continuous microwave (CM) radiation therapy for promoting septic wound healing in abdominal surgery patients. Seventy one patients received a 7-day course of CM radiation therapy and the remaining 70 patients received placebo therapy. The average time the treated patients were kept in the surgical department was 8.9 days shorter than that of the controls. The authors concluded that low intensity CM radiation appears to be an effective post operative treatment for purulent wounds resulting from abdominal surgery [BENER 12853]
