The authors studied foot currents induced in human volunteers by very high-frequency radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic fields (EMFs). Foot currents were measured in the electromagnetic environment produced by several nearby FM radio broadcast antennas operating at frequencies of 90-104 MHz. Some measurements exceeded the guideline induced tissue current limits. This indicated that for personnel exposed to EMFs near FM antennas, measuring only the electric and magnetic fields can lead to a false sense of security: foot currents also must be measured. The induced current limits can be exceeded even when the measured electric and magnetic fields are within the limits specified in the safety guidelines. [BENER 12891]
