Psychological profiles were evaluated of 10 patients with symptoms they attributed to electricity (electricity group, EG) and 10 patients who attributed their symptoms to VDTs (VDT group). The most frequently reported symptoms in the 2 groups combined were various skin symptoms, fatigue, pain, dizziness, headache, and difficulties in concentrating. The author concluded that psychological factors are very important in patients with symptoms attributed to EMF exposure, and that VDT and EG patients differ from each other psychologically.

I am just adding to my comments from 1998 regarding fluorescent lamps and electrical sensitivity. The electrical problem that was causing my symptoms was improper grounding of fluorescent fixtures/ballasts and not the 34 watt lamp as I stated before. The 34 watt cool white lamp has poor color rendition and can lead to eye strain after some time but the main culprit is the grounding factor.

I am a so called electrically sensitive person and people thought I was nuts also or I was making it up, even the doctors. But after 3 years of intense research and self evaluation I have come up with my answer to my symptoms and possibly others as well. It has to be the hardest thing I can think of to find the answer for because of the way the symptoms last. The answer: It has to do with the flicker rate of the "new" 34 watt cool white fluorescent light bulb. Many people in the last 6 years have come up with this new illness. It is no coincidence that in 1992 the government banned the production of all 40 watt cool white lightbulbs which apparently do not flicker at a perceivable rate. So that is my answer. I would be interested to hear from anyone who reads this and has this problem to check and see if they are exposed to this type of lamp. If so, avoid the 34 watt fluorescent lamp for at least 3 days and see if all symptoms disappear. For me, it also seemed that all electrical appliances were affecting me when I didn't know what the cause was. But once the fluorescent lamp was removed, all symptoms disappeared. So there! Cured for life.
