The authors presented an analysis of maternal occupation and pregnancy outcome. Among the occupations studied was the job category "electrical equipment operator." Adjusted odds ratios (ORs) of 1.5 or higher were seen between employment as an electrical equipment operator at any time during pregnancy and preterm delivery (OR = 1.8, 0.9-3.3 confidence interval (CI), 57 cases), very low birthweight (OR = 1.5, 0.9-2.3 CI, 36 cases), moderately low birthweight (OR = 1.4, 0.9-2.3 CI, 33 cases), and SGA birth (OR = 1.8, 0.9-3.6 CI, 32 cases).
