Transcranial application of 1-uT (10-mG) complex magnetic fields may induce pleasurable sensations in humans. Previous research showed that bilateral application of a burst-firing magnetic field for 1 sec once every 4 sec can elevate pain-tolerance thresholds and induce an opiate-like response in rats. Other research has shown that humans use aggressive language when these experiences are interrupted. In a test of this effect, researchers in Canada verbally interrupted human subjects undergoing magnetic field stimulation and examined their verbal responses for aggressive language. The fields were produced by four pairs of solenoids mounted in a motorcycle helmet. The researchers report enhanced irritability during disruption of stimulation applied on both sides of the head, when compared to left hemisphere stimulation and no stimulation treatments. The authors concluded that bilateral application of weak magnetic fields produces an effect pleasant enough that interruption induces irritability. [BENER 14759]

I'm an Engineer in a factory which produces magnetoresistive sensors. We have equipment which generates 5000 Gauss. I need know if this magnitude can cause any effect in humans (this machine is shielded, so at 1 mt of distance we have measured 5 Gauss). But my question is: Is it really dangerous ?
