The authors analyzed the possible correlation between the occurrence of homicides committed by serial killers and fluctuations in solar and geomagnetic activity during 1980-1990 in the USSR. Although such homicides are rare events, they are not randomly distributed in time: They tend to occur in different cities on the same or closely spaced days. The authors analyzed 150 episodes (10 separate series). The analysis established that serial homicides are the most probable during years with minimal solar activity within 11-yr cycles. Within these "dangerous" periods, homicides are likely to occur on or 1-2 days after days with an abrupt decrease or increase of solar and/or geomagnetic activity. The crimes are also more likely to happen on days with an abrupt decrease of minimal temperature (at night) and simultaneous increase of the maximum daytime temperature. [BENER 15106]
