At a meeting of the Bioelectromagnetics Society, researchers from the University of Zurich reported the findings of their research on the EMF exposure pattern which results from the use of a hand-held telephone. They found that the extent of EMF exposure depends on the type of antenna and on its mounting position on the telephone. Specifically, to minimize the user's exposure to EMFs, it is necessary to maximize the distance between the mounting position of the antenna on the telephone box and the surface of the user's head; decouple the antenna and telephone box; and increase the distance to the feeding point of the antenna using a coaxial extender.
