Summary

A number of studies were done to confirm a major US epidemiologic study on acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in children exposed to powerline fields. One group did a study of appliance exposure and ALL. This group included, among other appliances, electric blanket or electrically-heated mattress pad exposures during pregnancy, children's use of electric blankets or mattress pads, and children's use of hair dryers, or video games at home or in an arcade. A report and discussion is presented on the use of wire codes as a predictor of magnetic field exposure. A German study of magnetic field exposure is summarized. A residential study of breast cancer incidence in women living near transmission lines is discussed. Another residential study conducted in Taipei looking at incidence of childhood leukemia is summarized in conclusion. [two pages, 8 references].
