Summary

Several reports of EMF effects on plant growth are discussed. A report of effects of exposure to weak 50-Hz electric fields over a 30-day period on numbers of shoots developing in tobacco callus cultures is examined. Other workers reported that weak alternating current fields had an effect on growth in root cap cells of garden cress seedlings. Effects of EMF exposure on broad bean seedling root cells and corn seedlings is also summarized. A Slovenian report of effects of EMF exposure on spruce seedlings is compared to a report of the effects on spruce seedlings exposed to the fields from a color television monitor.
