Summary

A Danish study is summarized which examines occupational mortality from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and other neurologic causes and EMF exposure amoung workers in 475 job titles. A study was done to determine the EMF exposure levels of airline personnel. Measurements were made of magnetic field strengths in the cockpit and cabin areas during 37 commercial airline flights. In a separate study the same authors examined cancer mortality in US commercial pilots and navigators. A recent study is discussed associating children of electrical workers with brain tumors and compared to a study from 1985 reporting similar conclusions. A case control study is presented which indicates possible linkage between occupational EMF exposures and male breast cancer. Possible confounders are discussed because most of the workers involved in the study were exposed to other environmental agents such as harsh chemicals in addition to magnetic fields.
