Summary

A retrospective study was done involving male electric utility workers from 5 US companies to determine whether there is any occupational association between EMF exposure and mortality from cardiovascular disease. An additional study examined possible associations between elevated breast cancer rates for women and possible power-frequency EMF exposure. In a Maryland study the authors assessed potential residential EMF exposure and looked for elevated incidence of breast cancer. A fourth study reported results from an occupational case-control study of associations between EMF exposure and brain tumor incidence in male workers in central Sweden. As an example of what sort of EMF exposure levels can be found in the workplace a study is quoted which surveyed EMF levels in a nitrogen chemical fertilizer plant at Vratza, Bulgaria.
