Summary

Geomagnetic activity (GMA) is not generally taken into account in reports of ELF EMF studies. However, because of reports that they could potentially have effects similar to those reported to be associated with EMF exposure, they may be confounders in the interpretation of EMF studies. Because of reports that GMA variation could be associated with mortality from acute myocardial infarcts (AMI), increases in diastolic arterial blood pressure in normotensive individuals and other changes in cardiovascular health, a study was done to determine if there is a relation between solar activity and GMA and mortality from stroke and ischemic heart disease in Lithuania. In addition, there were two studies from Canada covering the effects of GMA on reproduction and early infancy. One study investigated whether increases in GMA could act as a partial parturitional trigger, with births more likely to occur during or following days of increased GMA. The other study looked at possible correlations between continuous pulsations that occur within the geomagnetic field and sudden infant death syndrome. [three pages, 5 references].
