Clearinghouse/Information Dissemination Services

IVI has managed several major clearinghouse projects requiring information dissemination services, database development, and multimedia information preparation:

• A Biomedical and Engineering Clearinghouse on Electric and Magnetic Fields;
• An Environmental Health Information Clearinghouse sponsored by The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences; and
• Two Cancer Information Dissemination and Analysis Centers (CIDACs) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute:
  CIDAC - Carcinogenesis and Cancer Biology, and
  CIDAC - Cancer Diagnosis and Therapy.

Database Management Services

For nearly a decade, IVI has been responsible for a full range of database activities - search strategy development and review, online execution of searches, review of abstracts and citations for relevance, surveillance of printed literature, acquisition of documents, writing of abstracts, and application of appropriate index terms including MeSH index terms required for updating national online databases. These databases include:

• NIOSHTIC, a bibliographic database sponsored by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health which contains information on all aspects of occupational safety and health;
• TD3 and RPROJ, two subsets of the TOXLINE database which is sponsored by the National Library of Medicine (NLM);
• MEDLINE and Index Medicus, also sponsored by NLM; and
• CANCERLIT, the NCI's bibliographic database.

Report Preparation Services

IVI is experienced in writing integrated clinical/statistical reports and other sections of an NDA for all phases of clinical research with pharmaceuticals, biologicals, or medical devices. For our chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotech clients, we prepare brochures, clinical reports, manuscripts for peer reviewed journals, monographs, newsletters, and summaries for NDAs. For our U.S. government clients, we prepare major reports related to pesticides and other occupational and environmental health and safety issues including:

• Fact Sheets on Selected Pesticides for the USDA Forest Service;
• Annual comprehensive Reviews of the Literature on Herbicides, Including Phenoxy Herbicides and Associated Dioxins for the Department of Veterans Affairs;
• Pesticide Regulatory Support for a Corporate Client reregistering pesticides within the countries of the European Union;
• Review of the Potential Health Effects of Maglev and Rail Systems for the US Department of Transportation; and
• Status Report on Potential Human Health Effects Associated with Power Frequency Electric and Magnetic Fields for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and Public Service Commission
