Web Sites
- EMFRAPID-Electric and Magnetic Fields Research and Public Information Dissemination Program
The EMF RAPID Program was established by the 1992 Energy Policy Act (Public Law 102-104) with the central goal of determining if electric and magnetic fields associated with the generation, transmission, and use of electrical energy pose a risk to human health. The Program supported an extensive series of research projects between 1994 and 1998 that were jointly managed by the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). The EMF RAPID Program and DOE's preexisting EMF research program were concluded with a final report to Congress in June, 1999. Since then, NIEHS has continued to support a few EMF studies and is maintaining the EMF RAPID Program home page as a basic information resource on power-frequency EMF health effects and basic research.
- Results of EMF Research - EMF Questions & Answers Booklet (PDF format)
Prepared by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences / National Institutes of Health. Sponsored by the NIEHS/DOE EMF RAPID Program. Originally printed in 1995 as part of the EMF RAPID Program, the booklet was updated in June 2002 to include new results from the EMF RAPID Program as
well as the results of recent major research studies and various expert panel reviews.
- Health Effects from Exposure to Power-Line Frequency Electric and Magnetic Fields (PDF format)
It was sponsored by the Electric and Magnetic Fields (EMF) Research and Public Information Dissemination (RAPID) Program. The booklet describes what researchers have learned (and have yet to learn) about EMFs and identifies some sources of EMFs in various industries.
- National Academy of Sciences Literature Review and Report "Possible Health Effects of Exposure to Residential Electric and Magnetic Fields" released 31 October 1996.
- U.S. Federal Communications Commission
-
FEB - The Swedish Association for the ElectroSensitive
On this server you will find information in English and/or Swedish about the "Electrical Oversensitivity" or "Electrical Hypersensitivity" phenomenon. A reference database and information about the FEB association in Sweden are available in English, as well as adresses to similar assocations worldwide, popular articles, and summarized reports on current research.
- The Human Radiation Effects Group
Bristol University group supported by Children with Leukaemia, Medical Research Council, and the UK Department of Health. Deals with the effects of both ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.
- Electricity Supply Association of Australia Limited (ESAA): EMF Information
ESAA has a range of information available on electric and magnetic fields (EMF) including newsletters, pamphlets and videos. Some of these are available on the ESAA web site www.esaa.com.au. EMF activities in ESAA are managed by a Richard Hoy and staff in the Melbourne office, and an advisory committee made up of industry representatives.
- The World of Wireless Communication
The wireless industry’s central resource for information and answers from the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA).
-
The Powerwatch Network
Powerwatch was established in 1988 to help people learn more about electromagnetic fields and how these affect health, and also to promote the responsible and efficient use of power
-
The EMR Network
The mission of the EMR Network is to enhance local, regional, national, and international efforts to reduce, mitigate, and where possible, eliminate hazardous exposure to EMR. Working for environmental justice and public health in a wireless world.
- Wave Guide
Provides activist information on EMR bioeffects and public policy.
- EMF-BIO/bionet.emf-bio Newsgroup Archive
The archives of this discussion group contain messages on electromagnetic field interactions with biological systems.
- Radio Frequency Safety
Operated by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission; provides consumers with information on human exposure to radiofrequency (RF) emissions from wireless phones and other devices.
- Radiological Health Items
Operated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration - Center for Devices and Radiological Health. Provides general information on radiation emitting products.
- International EMF Project
The International EMF Project was established by WHO in 1996. WHO is pooling resources and knowledge concerning effects of exposure to EMF and making a concerted effort to identify gaps in knowledge, recommend focused research programmes that allow better health risk assessments to be made, conduct updated critical reviews of the scientific literature, and work towards an international consensus and resolution on the health concerns. This site provides details of the organizational structure, current and long-term activities, results of scientific meetings, current and future events, and publications.
- International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) One of ICNIRP’s principal aims is to disseminate information and its advice on the potential hazards of exposure to non-ionizing radiation to everyone with an interest in the subject.
- The Electrical Wiring Page
A basic explanation of electrical wiring codes and electrical power in North America and Europe.
Newsgroups
- bionet.emf-bio, a discussion group that provides a means of easy communication among people doing research in or interested in electromagnetic field interactions with biological systems. It also provides other scientists with a window into a field which has broad implications for biology.
- sci.physics.electromag, a discussion group covering the physics of electromagnetic fields including electric fields, magnetic fields, and radiofrequencies.
