A case report was presented concerning a marble factory worker exposed to cobalt-naphthenate. The worker had an 11 year history of dermatitis beginning on the lower limbs spreading to the upper limbs, anterior thorax, and flanks. Improvement was seen on absences from the workplace, with recurrence of symptoms upon return to work. Standard patch tests including cobalt-chloride were negative. Patch tests with polyester and epoxy resins components gave a positive reaction to cobalt-naphthenate. The authors conclude that the patient had either an atypical lymphomatoid like allergic contact dermatitis or an allergic dermatitis shifting to lymphomatoid papulosis.
