SAFETY AND HEALTH IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY

A review of safety and health in the construction industry was presented. Data obtained from mortality and morbidity studies in the construction industry were presented and evaluated, as were comparisons of such data between countries. Reviews of major health outcomes associated with the construction industry such as traumatic injuries, musculoskeletal disorders, pulmonary diseases, cancers, central nervous system disorders, skin disorders, noise induced hearing loss, and family contact disease were presented. Current research and regulatory processes relating to construction industry safety and health, as well as public health recommendations, were described.
