A STRESS-STRENGTH INTERFERENCE MODEL FOR PREDICTING CTD PROBABILITIES

A model was developed for the prediction of carpal tunnel syndrome. The model was compared to actual data from a poultry boning operation. The model calculated incident rates of cumulative trauma disorders at a poultry boning facility of 2.88% to 5.86% for males and 4.90% to 10.73% for females. The actual incidence rate was 17.4%, including nonspecific disorders. The authors conclude that engineering techniques can be used in quantifying biomechanical aspects of cumulative trauma disorders.
