A biomonitoring study for arsenic exposure was conducted in 40 workers at a pesticide manufacturing facility. The facility had been placed on the Superfund National Priorities list because of soil contamination with arsenic. Skin cancer consistent with arsenic induced skin cancer was not reported in this group. No adverse health effects, attributable to arsenic exposure were observed among the employees and all arsenic determinations were within normal values, indicating that there was no significant bioaccumulation among these workers. The authors suggest that for the purposes of screening, random urine sampling may be an adequate and preferable manner of testing.
