A retrospective cohort study was conducted at a pharmaceutical company after notification of a cluster of cancers. The 3,504 subjects had exposure to chemical, pharmacological or biological agents for at least 6 months while employed between 1960 and 1990. Fewer cohort deaths than expected were observed with no significant increase for any specific cause of death. Overall, there were 72 cases of cancer reported versus the expected 74 cases. The authors conclude that no major cancer risk exists at this facility.
